Exciting news to announce for my art practice…
I have recently acquired a new art studio at the Santa FeArtGallery in Owen Sound, Ontario. This new space allows me to paint freely at my own pace and I have been inspired to paint more frequently. I am sharing the space with a wonderful and talented artist: Allison Brown (http://allisonbrownart.wordpress.com/tag/grey-bruce-art)
Check out the article recently posted by Grey-Bruce this week about our new studio space and where our inspiration comes from.
What an exciting adventure this will be. I am so grateful for the support from my family and friends. Stay tuned as I start to update my website with images of my new paintings!
Here’s the studio!
Here are my most recent paintings that are featured in the Grey County Artists’ Rediscovered Exhibition at the Meaford Hall. The show is on now until January 27th.
Red Reflections has been moved to the Flesherton Library to help promote the show there.
I hope in the new year I can start creating new pieces to build up my portfolio and hopefully have a solo exhibition. Thanks for taking the time to look at my art!
It has been about 6 months since I last painted. Life has been busy and to be honest, I haven’t had the desire to paint. I guess there has been a lack of inspiration, but today was different…I finally wanted to paint. With the amount of emotions running through me these past couple of months it was time to release it. I believe something inside me told me that I had to let it all out on the canvas and it truly made me feel so much better. This painting took me 1 hour. I couldn’t stop and it was the fastest painting I have ever done (and the canvas is 24x 40).
This painting is dedicated to my Mother, my biggest supporter who loved all my work. I believe she had something to do with it…she did love the night skies I painted. The title is “Winter Nights” and hope it will be showcased at the Meaford Hall exhibition in November.
Stay tuned for more paintings! I think I’ve got my groove back!
I have a solo exhibition coming up called ‘Beyond the Horizon’ that will be on display at the Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound, Ontario from DECEMBER 5th- FEBRUARY 11th.
It is located at 251 9th Street East (Owen Sound) and hours are Monday-Saturday 11:30 am – 5:30 pm. The gallery is also open on performance nights.
The recent “Beyond the Horizon” series comes from my endless exploration of the relationship between sky and land. The horizon suggests there is more to see beyond what we recognize. It adds balance between elements in constant motion.
Whether through a simplistic line or silhouette of the landscape, it stabilizes the vastness and ephemeral state of the sky.
Opening reception is on Saturday, December 17th from 5:30-6:30 pm.
For those who are unable to attend, please stay tuned for photos of the exhibition to see the new work I have created! Thank you all for your support!
Just a reminder that I will be having a solo exhibition at the Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound starting December 3rd.
Reception dates and more information will be posted very soon, so stay tuned!
Thanks for taking the time to look at my new painting!
Here is another new painting that came from an evening drive. I saw some amazing colours and movement that night. It seemed to me that the clouds were dancing, such an experience to see the changes of colour and textures against the water. It was something I had to capture, and when I see this painting I get that sense of movement all over again. Hope you enjoy!
